Philosophical pipe-smoking cat

This illustration is purchasable in my shop, FREE shipping untill sunday with this link!

As you can see by the process, I've been changing my mind about the cat a few times. This picture has been flopping around for moths, I haven't been sure if I should finish it or not. But this morning I did and I'm happy I did :)

The photo of the castle high up on a stony hill was what set the idea for the location.

  1. It's fantastic! Fortunately, you finished it - and it's great that you shared the process, too. It's really interesting (for me as an "unable-drawer") to see how a picture is developping from idea to result...

    1. Yes! Artist often forget that it's actually really fun for outsiders to see this... I gues that's why we like to see "the making of" movies and music videos too :)

  2. Beautiful ~ I very much like the version where he is also holding the fish.

  3. I read somewhere that the new 2013 year of snake will be reserved, philosophical and observant - so maybe that's what the cat is about!

  9. How inspiring to see how your idea evolved into the finished piece. It's gorgeous! Love how you combined all elements... it's kind of mysterious and one can make up their own story :)
