Winterish summer

When it's summer I often dream about winter. Winter is so quite and cosy. Summer can be very bright and loud. I always read Tove Janssons book "Trollvinter"and now I'm also watching the winter episodes of moomin on tv. Oh my god... they are so good! But even the books, every time I read them... I'm so amazed by how brilliant Tove was as a writer. Trollvinter, Pappan och Havet and Farlig midsummer are the ones I read over and over.
I bought this porcelain-like scarf at a second hand store. I didn't know what to do with it until Lollos hair was all over my sheets so I told him alright Lollo, I will put this scarf out for you, and then you sleep on this and not on the sheets! And so he did. And he looks so beautiful on it.

It's not that I don't appreciate summer. But somehow a season where everyone relaxes stresses me a bit. I'm one of those people who have a hard time doing nothing.

  2. Fall and Winter are my favourite seasons. I like cold more than I like heat. These photos are beautiful.

    1. Thank you. Yes... cold is nice! Then you can feel the weather. Now you're pretty much just hiding from it in the shadow.

  3. I'm the same way. I've almost been at tears lately wishing it was fall or winter... Also, last month I too watched all the winter Moomin episodes and a bunch more. I just finished Comet in Moominland for the first time today. Actually I found your blog because of your Tove drawing. :)

I received your 'Meeting in Snow' last week. I love it.

  5. Pappan och Havet is probably my favouritest book in the world. I want to live in a lighthouse/on a small island.

and the cat DOES look beautiful on the scarf!

    1. Yeah... it really is great. When I read Toves biography I realized why this book was so great, it was because Tove pretty much also lived on a tiny little stone island in the sea with her life-partner (tootiki is based on her) for a long time. She really knew the feeling of a place like this and the oceans rhythm.

  9. You would be right at home here in Ireland. We have summer with a small s. We still light the fire a lot of evenings, and it is the exception to have more than a week of sunshine, which could be in any month between May and October. This year it was in May. :-)

I adore Moomins any time of year. A Necessary Happiness in Life.

And the scarf. Genius. As I type, our giant ginger fluffball is sprawled like a king on our dark coloured bed-quilt. Fluff and dark being the important words here.... Thank you!

    1. Oh, I would really like to visit Ireland! I totally suck at traveling because I get so nervous... but Ireland seems so cosy and warm(people and cottage wise, maybe not weather wise).
Say hello to your fluffy ginger king!
And have a lovely day Ciara :)

  13. These are wonderful! And I get what you're saying about the seasons. Personally, I always long for Autumn, especially since the transition from Summer to Winter is usually so quick, Autumn (with red leaves, crisp air and rainy days) only last a short while.
