Binoculars

I'm in a photography low. Every time I try to shoot something it turns out crap. I would really like to photograph someone that isn't me. But somehow I've been cursed with not knowing any people that like to have their picture taken.
My sisters cat has given birth to 5 kittens, I wish I could be there and watch them sleep. But I guess I'll have to keep watching Lollo take naps instead.

  1. Totally understand how you feel! It is a sucky feeling. But remember it will pass! I think you should photograph the baby kittens! That would be precious ! Good luck, I hope you get out of your photography funk soon :)

  2. Wow, that looks like such a fun hairstyle! How did you do it?

I have a friend that was an intern for a photographer, and he said that deep down, no one really likes to be photographed. It's all about how you talk to people and make them comfortable in front of a camera, even with professional models. As far as your photography rut, perhaps you should go somewhere where you've never taken your camera before. Do you have such a place? :) New environments help you go out of your comfort zone and refrain from taking the same kinds of pictures that you're used to. I hope it gets better for you!

    1. Hi masha, maybe that's true. I think I'm good at making models feel comfortable..heh..but maybe the models wouldn't agree :)
Yesterday I went to a forest I've never been before... in search for new places and new inspiration, but no such luck :( I would like to find a place that isn't a forest. But I feel that I've seen most places outside the city. I probably haven't, so I should keep looking! Because I know you're right, new places does give new ideas.

The hairdoo is super simple. Just make to braids and then pin them up on the head :)

  3. Hi Ulrika,
    Your photographs are beautiful.
Thanks for being so honest about how you feel right now.
I also use my self as a model since Im always available.
I am curious to how you always get yourself in focus in your photos.
I use a prop to hold my place and sometimes i still i'm out of focus. Is there a trick to use?

Im also working with a stuffed animal now- a squirrel who is in my photo.

I thought you would like the work of these two artists as well

    1. Hi Gwen!
I use a self-trigger remote. Make sure your aperture isn't too low (2.8-3.5). Sometimes I set the focus and then continue manually, but the easiest way is to keep the focus on automatic and then focus with the trigger remote while you're in front of the camera. On this picture I'm photographing with my toe because that's where I kept the remote :)

      I hope this was helpfull!

  4. I think it's pretty normal because I've been through that moment too. And every time I feel stuck & uninspired, I tend to read more books, do blogwalking to several bloggers who has the same interest with me, watch more inspiring movies, and go adventuring to new places!

And the next thing I knew, I get myself confidence back and be able to take photographs with a whole new different perspective. I hope you'll pass the phase soon!

By the way, I really love the first photo!

    1. Thank you Fransisca.
Yes I guess I'll have to look at some other things before I can create new things :) I hope my inspiration will find its way back to me soon!

    1. Heiia flickan!

  6. Your hair is beautiful and thick, reminds me of my mother's hair when I was little; it was past her waist and she always did a single braid and put it up in back. Love the sword you have tucked in at the belt and your bird friend. The whimsy is the wonderful part of all of your photographs - keep looking for the fairies - they're out there!

    1. Thank you, yes I was lucky to get the same hair as my mother... she also had i super long when I was small. Hih, it's actually a deers antler in my belt, not a sword :)

I'm not giving up on the fairies... but I wish they would come a bit closer :)

  7. I have the same feeling... I'd like so much to find someone who would be patient enough to be my model. It would be so much fun and easier to photograph. it's so difficult to do a picture when you're the model and the photographer. this is the curse of photographers ^.^
Is that a deer antler stuck in your belt?

  10. If I lived where you live, I'd be happy to model for you.

But I don't. I live in Jönköping/Huskvarna, and you live in Lund, right?
Hope you find someone soon! And if you're driving past Huskvarna some day, you can come and say hi if you like :)

And I love your blog by the way! It's so "dreamy" and magical :)
