Giants by Robert

Paintings by Robert Grafström

So, I think it's about time to show you just how talented my boyfriend is! These two paintings of giants might be my favorites. Robert often paints darker and more "monster"-like things... and since I like rabbits and fairytales more than monsters I really like it when he makes things that could fit into fairytales :)
I really like how the clouds on the upper picture are all round and soft, just like the giants beards and skin. And also the way the red sky looks so harmonic.

I hope to see another giant soon to this series Robert!
I'm really lucky to be in a relationship with someone who also has a strong interest in art, then we can both agree on turning the attic into a studio when we move in together ;)
(I'd love a studio like Camilla and Elisabeth)

Christmas fair

On sunday it's time for the christmas fair, I will be selling the objects you can see above. Wooden foxes, the calendar - in a small and big size, and some linen aprons (hand painted).
Let's hope I'll get something sold, it's always hard to know what people want to buy. Well alright, mostly people just want to buy what's cheapest, but let's hope they're willing to spend a little more since it's christmas ;)

Le hérisson

Yesterday I saw a wonderful movie with my mum, Le hérisson, which means the hedgehog. I was supposed to read the book while me and Robert were in Thailand, but I never got to it. I'm a really sucky reader. I can get through children's books.... but real stuff for adults, that's always harder. Rather silly I suppose. When I find a book that I really like I don't mind spending days reading it. But I have to really like it. From the start. I hate when people say, the first 100 pages are a bit slow... why do they have to be slow? I think I watch to much films and read to little. Does anyone know a blog that reviews and writes about books?

The book aside, the movie was really great (especially if you're an esthetic person living in your own little world). It's always cozy to go to the cinema on a sunday and sit in the smallest saloon with just 5 rows.

Problems

Korpus illustration for december 2011

Hello hello. Woah, everything was supposed to go so smoothley with the calendar this year, but it sure hasn't. First of the people who printed the calendar made a whole mess of the situation and were quit rude and unprofessional to me at the end. At first I was so happy to find a good printing company, but now I doubt I'll use them again. I hate when I feel like a little girl in a men's world. I wan't to stand there and say "You did wrong, you have to give me a discount!"... and instead I end up saying "...why are you so mad at me?(buhu).."
And then I'm having problems with paypal, with receiving the money from the people who live abroad that bought the calendar. Transactions keep failing and money keeps disappearing. Like my boyfriend said, I too could have a company that takes money and pisses people off.
Also, the christmas fair to which I maid the calendars for, seems to get a little smaller this year because so many people have dropped out.
So nothing is uphill right know. Maybe it will be soon. Let's hope so.

The flight of the conchords

Anyone else who loves the flight of the conchords?
Watching that show gives me a light happy feeling. And Bret and Jemain (who play Bret and Jemain) are so far off from any other traditional boring hollywood people. You can't find a single good interview with these guys because no hollywood interviewer knows what to do with them. They simply don't care about selling themselves out. If I've gotten it right they're on a time off now, Jemain says that he wants to move next to Bret back in Wellington in New Zeeland and eat danish and talk about stuff.

little valley

Here are some samples from the light installation we did for an assignment in school. Heh, the video is not great, however, it was the only one our teacher wanted to see twice, so it couldn't have been that bad. (Ok, so it was the teachers assistant.... still counts!)

Christmas Fair

Hello everyone, if you live in Lund you should visit the christmas fair that we design students will have on the 28th of november. I will sell my calendar and some wood foxes.
Is it hard to tell who drew the poster?
Because if it is, I'll give you a hint: the name sounds like olly.

Tomorrow we have a light installation presentation. We've been working all day with the photo presentations and now I almost wanted to lay down and cry(almost did) because I simply COULDN'T get the filmed material into the computer, and the cameras manual says nothing about how to connect the shit with the computer. Luckily, I tried it on my MacBook instead and then it worked. However, when I edit photos or film I want to sit by the big iMac screen... but no no that won't be possible. So now I'm blogging on the iMac, searching through my musiclibrary on the old Macbook, and downloading the filmed material into my new Macbook. I feel like a macnerd. However, I don't feel like a connecting-camera-with-computer nerd.

Calendar 2011

Here is the first print of the Korpus calendar!
This time I'm letting a print publisher take care of the printing, but I'll still have to bind them myself. Two years ago when I made my first calendar it was so much work printing them all and I think I lost more money than I gained. The paper and ink was ridiculously expensive. But hopefully things will float along more smoothly this year :)

I'm selling the small calendar ( ≈ 15x30 cm) for 150 SEK
and a bigger one (≈ 21x42 cm) for 250 SEK

The small calendar is on the picture above. The color of the paper will be light brown-ish.
If anyone wants to PRE-ORDER a calendar please do so :) Just send me an e-mail:

ulricake@gmail.com

It's really good if I know as soon as possible so that I can change my order to the printers.
There will also be a shipping cost (unless you're able to come to the christmas fair here in Lund on the 28th of november and buy it yourself), depending on were in the world you live. More informations about this will come later.

Now you're only an email away from having little Korpus on your wall all throughout 2011!

A wonderful calendar is on its way

Soooooo, two weeks vacation helped me to draw enough new Korpus images to make a new calendar for 2011. And although you might have the one for 2009 and say "So? That one was ugly." I can only say that the new one will be at least 10 times better. For every year I learn something new while drawing this little character.
All I have to do now is find the right paper... I don't like Korpus being printed on plain white paper, I want 220 gram paper in a brown/yellowish tone. But the little city I live in don't seem to have anything. Hopefully I'll find something that'll work in the end, I want to sell the calendar on our schools christmas fair which is in less than four weeks.

To the fashion fans

This video was very unlike what Rihanna usually does. Hah..it's so sweet and pink. Anyway, I wanted to post it since I thought that every scene was like from a fashion shoot and that the color rendering was kinda cool (although the firework thing is rather stupid ;)
What do you think?
